Optoacoustic imaging with an air-coupled transducer using coaxially aligned focused illumination

چکیده
Optoacoustic (OA) methods have become powerful tools in biomedical research capable of retrieving functional information from biological tissues vivo. Acquisition OA signals generally relies on direct physical contact a transducer or an acoustic coupling medium with the tissue surface, which prevents applicability, e.g., open surgeries wounded tissues. Non-contact imaging has been achieved air-coupled piezoelectric transducers, provide straightforward approach for remote sensing ultrasound vibrations. However, sensitivity was hampered by suboptimal alignment between illumination and detection fields. Herein, we devised featuring central aperture light delivery coaxially aligned optical foci, thus providing optimal signal detection. Imaging phantoms mouse ear vivo is showcased raster-scanning being delivered through multimode fiber.

متن کاملOptoacoustic imaging using fiber-optic interferometric sensors.
An interferometric sensor based on nonmetallic silica optical fiber is presented as an ultrasonic wideband transducer for optoacoustic imaging applications. We have characterized the sensitivity of the optical fiber sensor by detecting optoacoustic signals from an optically absorbing object embedded in a tissue-mimicking phantom and have compared the signals recorded with those detected from th...
متن کاملSingle-element focused ultrasound transducer method for harmonic motion imaging.
The harmonic motion imaging (HMI) technique for simultaneous monitoring and generation of ultrasound therapy using two separate focused ultrasound transducer elements was previously demonstrated. In this study, a new HMI technique is described that images tissue displacement induced by a harmonic radiation force using a single focused-ultrasound element. A wave propagation simulation model firs...
متن کاملNew Designs of Focussed Air-coupled Ultrasonic Transducer
The paper describes new developments in air-coupled ultrasonic transducers that can be used to focus energy in air. All transducers to be described are based on a capacitive design, using a rigid backplate and a thin polymer membrane. There are three approaches that can be used to achieve focussing, all of which are described: focussing with a mirror, using curved back-plates, and linear phased...
متن کاملAccelerated Air-coupled Ultrasound Imaging of Wood Using Compressed Sensing
Air-coupled ultrasound has shown excellent sensitivity and specificity for the nondestructive imaging of wood-based material. However, it is timeconsuming, due to the high scanning density limited by the Nyquist law. This study investigated the feasibility of applying compressed sensing techniques to air-coupled ultrasound imaging, aiming to reduce the number of scanning lines and then accelera...
